    Join us on November 9th, as we listen to (and learn from) traditional Palestinian songs and hymns of resistance brought to us by Maramiya Band.

    Promoting Palestinian heritage and history, our evening will also feature a talented Violin player, and powerful Poetry recitations. ✨

    🟢 Appetizers, bite-sized food and hot drinks will be available during the break. 🧆☕

    🔴 Proceeds from this evening will go to support the Palestine Action prisoners who sacrificed their freedom for the struggle and liberation of the Palestinian people. You can also support our work by donating an additional amount when purchasing your tickets.

    ⚫ Please note that tickets are required for this event and anyone without a ticket will be unable to attend. 🎫

  • Princes to Kings – Live

    Princes to Kings – Live

    Balsall Heath Second Saturday is proper excited about being included in the Princes to Kings Midlands and the North tour this year. They will be playing throughout the day.

    Princes to Kings are a band of two brothers from Hertfordshire who started making music initially to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy charities, since their eldest brother Luke lives with severe and complex Epilepsy. Since then they have developed their sound and passion for music, releasing their own material, written and produced themselves. The brothers have crafted a refreshing pop/singersongwriter sound. Taking influences from a variety of artists, old and new. The duo have performed at a variety of events. They have played festivals such as Pub In The Park, Geronimo Fest and Great British Food Festival, whilst also playing headline shows, including a recent performance at Camden Assembly. Recently the pair performed at The Crocodile in Seattle, where they were able to showcase their originals and meet some US fans.

    The boys featured on ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’ as the Unexpected Stars Of The Show. The youngest member of the band, Zac, was a winner of BBC Young Composer 2020.

    Join The GAP on Saturday 9th March, 11.30am – 12.30pm for The Storyteller of Jerusalem, an intimate & interactive event sharing stories from Palestine 🇵🇸

    The stories and songs will focus on learning about and celebrating Palestinian culture, and have been especially selected by Sherazade (spoken word) and Abid (live music) with family audiences in mind 🎶📚

    They’ll be interactive sensory elements, including:
    ✨percussion instruments to play
    ✨projected images of significant sites in Palestine
    ✨fresh mint tea to drink
    ✨pomegranate, figs and olives to taste
    ✨frankincense to smell
    ✨comfy cushions & rugs

    Free. No need to book.

    Please arrive at 11.30am – this is not a drop-in event

    All ages welcome.

    Parents/carers must stay with children.

This record store and then label became one of the most influential and important parts of South Asian history and diaspora in the UK and world wide, before the store had to close in 2017.

    Come along to the launch of the True Form Projects ‘Oriental Star Express’ installation at The Old Print Works. In 1970 Mohammed Ayub founded Oriental Start Agencies in Birmingham. Creating a replica of Oriental Star Agencies at Print Works, will allow you to explore records that defined South Asian Culture and the history of one of the most iconic record stores in Birmingham

    Empress Linoleum

    Nicknamed Linoleum by her former school teacher, Empress embarked on her soul journey at a young age. Sound became a form of expression. Her production is clean, dreamy and hard hitting with metallic percussion in all the right places. Her soft sung vocals compliment her laid back rap and she ties it all together with bouncy beats and 808s.
